BOTOX

BOTOX

What is Botox?

As we age, the tissue and skin around the cells may lose their original shape causing the face to appear older. Botox® is a non-surgical solution used to effectively treat wrinkles, frown lines, forehead creases and crows’ feet. Botox® is directly injected into the muscles and helps to relax the area. This procedure essentially constrains the muscles causing them to no longer contract.

Botox® is a simple and effective temporary solution, and causes relatively no pain or discomfort.

What to Expect from Botox

Before beginning a Botox® treatment, patients will have the opportunity to ask any questions they have. Due to the small amount of medicine injected and the size of the needle, no anesthesia or sedative is necessary.

The average time for one Botox® treatment is around 15 minutes. Additional injections during the same appointment will increase the time needed for the treatment. After treatment, patients will be able to resume their normal activities.

Some patients may experience tenderness, swelling, bruising, or redness. These effects are temporary and should subside shortly after treatment.

Patients should begin to see results within a few days to a week after treatment. The final result should produce a noticeable improvement in the appearance of lines in the injected area.

Please remember that these are general guidelines and some people may need less or more time for a full recovery. You should work directly with the plastic surgeon who completed your procedure for specific instructions.

Botox Benefits

Some of the major benefits of a Botox® treatment include the smoothing of wrinkles, forehead creases, laugh lines, worry lines, crows’ feet, and other fine lines around the face. Botox® may also be used to address issues such as excessive sweating. When Botox® is injected, the treated area will temporarily stop producing sweat. Other areas of the body will not be affected and will continue producing sweat normally.

Many of our patients feel that wrinkles and other lines cause them to appear older than they are. Botox® treatments have increased their confidence and self-image due to a more youthful appearance.
