FUT SCAR REVISION

FUT SCAR REVISION

What is FUT Scar Revision?

During FUT Hair Transplants, follicle grafts are extracted from a thin strip of skin taken from the back and sides of the head creating what’s called Linear Scaring. A thin strip is virtually unnoticeable, but a wider strip leaves a visible scar without hair follicles. Advances in technology and techniques now make it possible to fix linear scarring with FUT Scar Revision surgery, making the blemish less noticeable.

What to Expect from FUT Scar Revision

Depending on the extent of the repair needed, FUT Scar Revision surgery can be done while you are awake under local anesthesia or fully sedated under general anesthesia.

Scars resulting from issues surrounding an FUT procedure are usually dealt with in one or the other two methods or a combination of the two. Firstly, some scars benefit from excision revision incorporating plastic surgery techniques and tricophytic closure that allows hair to grow through a scar to help conceal it. Secondly, FUEs can be used to place into a scar to also conceal it. A combination of both previous techniques can also sometimes be used in combination. An individualized plan is decided for each patient's unique circumstances.

Please remember that these are general guidelines and some people may need less or more time for a full recovery. You should work directly with the plastic surgeon who completed your procedure for specific instructions.

The procedure involves grafting skin from a donor site somewhere on your body to the area requiring Revision. Using Follicular Unit Extraction, grafts can be transplanted directly into the scar tissue to avoid further scarring the scalp.
