What Is A Hair Transplant For Women?
Hair Transplant Surgery is the surgical process of removing hair follicles from the scalp and relocating the follicles to a bald or thinning area by removing a strip of skin and planting the follicles in another part of the scalp.
In the past, this process often left a scar across the back of the scalp where the graft was taken from, but technological and medical advances have now made it possible to achieve a natural-looking hairline with a technique called Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT). FUT surgeries are minimally invasive, using tiny incisions and Hair Regeneration Solution to eliminate the kind of scarring usually associated with Hair Transplantation.
Keep in mind that a woman’s hairline is different and more complicated than a man’s, but the friendly and knowledgeable staff at HFPI is prepared to make sure you get the best outcome possible.

What To Expect From A Women’s Hair Transplant
Patients should expect to be administered anesthesia before undergoing FUT. This is an outpatient procedure, so have someone ready to drive you home after your surgery. On average, Follicular Transplantation surgery takes between 4 to 7 hours to complete.
Recovery times will differ between patients, but most begin to feel better 10 to 14 days after the procedure. It is best to avoid direct sunlight and strenuous activities during your recovery. How long your results will last depends on several factors, such as your age, the slackness of your skin, and your genetic history. But you can generally count on long-lasting results with FUT.
Please remember that these are general guidelines and some people may need less or more time for a full recovery. You should work directly with the plastic surgeon who completed your procedure for specific instructions.

Women's Hair Transplant FAQs
To be a candidate for Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT) you need to meet two criteria: An area that needs hair and enough healthy hair on your scalp that can be transplanted to that area.
Each surgery is designed for the individual patient’s needs and aesthetic goals. After a thorough examination and consultation, you will be helped to make an informed decision whether or not FUT is suitable for you.
In the past, Hair Plugs were quite noticeable, but improvements in technology and surgical techniques have advanced to the point that the results are so natural-looking that even a barber or hair stylist can’t tell that you have had a transplant.
More importantly, with FUT, the transplanted hair is your own hair. When transplants are performed correctly by a qualified surgeon, the result is a seamlessly natural-looking head of hair.
Hair Transplants are rarely covered by insurance because these surgeries are usually considered cosmetic procedures. In special instances, insurance may cover transplant surgery for hair lost because of an illness or health condition.
Expect at least some scabbing and tiny hairs to be present in the transplanted area for 7 to 10 days following your procedure. The new hair growth process takes around 4 to 6 months, and most people will see significant new hair growth after 6 to 9 months. Most Hair Transplant patients can return to work 2 to 5 days after the operation.
Keep in mind that these are general guidelines, some people may require more or less time to achieve full recovery. Consult with your plastic surgeon throughout the process to determine the best practices for attaining your desired outcome.
